How to use CSV files for chat messaging

See how to send chat messages from excel sheets. You will only need a '.csv' file, a TXT File connection in Ozeki chat and an chat service provider connection. Keep in mind to write the excel sheet and export it to CSV format

CSV is a much simpler format than an excel table. Each row in the CSV file represents a row in the excel sheet and the columns are separated by commas. You can send data in CSV file format with the help of the TXT File connection.

Step 1 - Create a CSV file

Write your own excel datasheet or your company's application can do it for you. It is important that the first column is the recipient's address, the second parameter should be the text message itself, while the third parameter is the time when to send it. You can see an example excel sheet on Figure 1.

Please export your excel sheet to CSV file format (Figure 2).

Step 2 - Setup a TXT File connection in Ozeki

To launch the Chat Server application where you can manage your connections, please click the icon that you can see on Figure 3 or start searching for it in the Start menu of the Ozeki OS.

Now to start setting up a new Connection, click the Users button, search for the Create new Chat user button and then look for the Chat Service user option. You can see all 3 buttons that you need to click on Figure 4.

To have a chat user service that can handle TXT files, you need to choose the TXT file as an application interface. To do that, search for the TXT File option on the right side of the screen and click the blue Install button. You can see the button you need to search for on Figure 5.

To be able to handle CSV files with this connection, the main part of the configuration is to select the CSV file format from the list of file formats as you can see it in Figure 6. You also need to give a name for the connection here, you set the folders for the messages as well. When you finished with these settings, you can just click OK.

Finally all you need to do is make sure that the File Format for the connection is set to CSV. You can modify it in the Service user details tab, in the Settings section. To start sending the messages you have stored in the CSV file you just created, please copy the file to the Outbox folder that you set up under the Message folders section in the Service user details tab. You can see how it should look like on Figure 6.
